Two tropical disturbances being monitored in the Atlantic

Weather experts are tracking two tropical disturbances in the Atlantic. As expected, tropical activity is gaining steam, keeping forecasters and our team of public adjusters on alert.

Disturbance #1 is a low pressure system about 380 miles from the Leeward Islands. The National Weather Service says this system has a 50% chance of developing into a tropical depression as it moves west-northwest at 15 miles per hour.

The current forecast brings this system near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Tuesday. The chance of forming into a more organized tropical system increases to 60% over the next 5 days.

The second disturbance is a series of disorganized showers and thunderstorms that are 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. As of Monday morning weather experts have downgraded this system saying chances that it develops into a tropical system are becoming less likely over the next few days.

As meteorologists continue to track the Atlantic for storm activity our disaster relief team at Sill is prepared to respond to any region affected by a storm.

If you own a business or a large residential home that may be impacted by a hurricane you should have a complete hurricane survival plan for your property. For business owners, it is especially important to know that according to FEMA 25% of businesses affected by a disaster do not reopen.
