Multiple tornadoes swept through parts of southwestern Kentucky late Friday. Kentucky's Governor, Andy Beshear, says more than 50 people may be dead due to the storm.
Early reports indicate as many as four tornadoes struck the region, one of which stayed on the ground for more than 200 miles, according to local news reports.
Graves County is the area where the worst of the destruction is reported. Damage reports are coming in from multiple states as the weather system may have led to as many as 24 tornadoes across five states.
Numerous homes and businesses were affected by the storm, which means property owners will be facing long and complex insurance claims. A widespread incident like this can be very taxing for property owners and insurance companies who may find themselves dealing with numerous claims.
